Club des Entrepreneurs meeting with CBo Territoria on corporate real estate and premises in Reunion Island

Invest in Reunion Island's 3rd Club des Entrepreneurs 2010 meeting was organised in partnership with CBo Territoria on the theme : « major issues, impediments and solutions regarding corporate real estate and premises in Reunion Island». This exchange revealed that the problem lies more in what the policy to be adopted and political support than in financial issues. CINOR's first "Rendez-vous économique" meeting

The CINOR cooperation, in partnership with Invest in Reunion Island, invited around twenty company managers representing the different industries involved in the Green Reunion Island policy to a first meeting - "Rendez-Vous Economique" - on the theme «To establish, invest and develop a business activity on the CINOR's territory ». Dominique Vienne, new CEO of the CGPME federation Dominique Vienne was elected new CEO of the CGPME federation during the general assembly of the employer organsiation of small and medium sized companies on 26 June 2010. Geocom, services to members of the public and e-administration

Mobil telephony offers efficient and customized solutions that meet increasing needs in communication as well as interactive proximity services for collectivities. Jean-Louis Wald, who created the GEOCOM company (which Invest in Reunion Island provided with support) has developed proximity communication SMS, CIVI-SMSInfos, a specific product dedicated to communes and domestic collectivities. CMSuite : evolutions 2010 for communication and e-sale

CMSuite, the enterprise content management software created by Reunion Island-based company Albione in 2009 has been boosted : it still enables to update a website, from the webshow to e-store, but with more fonctionnalities and improved ergonomics. Among the novelties: an interactive commercial or information webshow, an e-mailing oriented website / surveys/ blogs and an e-sale. 3 new training programmes offered from the next school year onwards

The University of Reunion Island will offer three new professional training programmes from the next school year onwards : the third department of engineering studies encompassing the option "construction durable et environnement" (sustainable construction and environment), located in the south of the island at Le Tampon and Terre Sainte; the department (UFR) of health studies that will offer a second year of medicine; and studies in social care. www.univ-reunion.fr

Business creation : things start again

According to the figures published by the INSEE institue, business creation demonstrated a rise of 7.3% during the first three months of 2010, following a significant decrease in 2008 and 2009. The construction sector knew a remarkable rebound of over 50,8% during the first semester 2010. The new VAT refund scheme for corporates (npr)

A ministerial directive defines the new application field of new VAT refund scheme for companies. This VAT used to be considered as a disguised subvention as this tax was refunded to companies that had not paid it. Therefore, since 1 June 2009, construction materials have not been eligible to this VAT npr scheme any more excepting some such as photovoltaic panels placed within solar plants.

Extension of the business area of La Mare

On 16 June 2010, CBo Territoria laid the first stone of the second part of the « Les Cuves de la Mare 2 » building programme that will enable to extend the business area of La Mare. Located on the sugar-cane factory, these premises will offer 3,350 m2 of offices together with the 17,000 m2 that have already been delievered and where over 700 persons are working. On 18 June 2010, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Reunion Island (CCIR) an information day on the theme « opportunities in China ».The objective was to enable Reunion Island-based companies to conquer the huge Chinese market. The CCIR and the FAC federation(Federation of Chinese companies located in Reunion Island) are preparing a prospecting mission for a delegation of Reunion Island company managers from 23 to 29 August 2010, during the universal exhibition in Shangaï. www.reunion.cci.fr

La Part des Anges

La part des anges refers to evaporation of alcoholic beverages aged in barrels… This is also the name of a start-up located at the mixed development zone of (ZAC) Vue Belle and which Invest in Reunion Island gave assistance to. A mariage between traditions and technology that gave birth to the first legal distillery of tropical fruits within Europe. Today, la Part des Anges sells its spirits within the network of cellar masters and gourmet groceries in Reunion Island and banks on export to valorise Reunion Island tropical fruits. Cycléa

In the aftermath of the fire that destroyed its premises, the Société d'Economie Mixte de l'Ouest Cycléa company continues to operate in waste sorting and recycling. The construction works of the new factory will start in August on SEDRE's lot and the delivery is scheduled for June 2011. Despite difficult circumstances and its relocation at ZAC Mascareignes mixed development zone, Cycléa's balance sheet 2009 states 6,000 tonnes of household waste steming from separate collection and over 7,000 tonnes of industrial waste sorted and treated, without mentioning the 15.000 tonnes of pre-treated cumbursome waste. Collection of can containing agricultural phytosanitary products

Considered as hazardous waste, cans containing agricultural phytosanitary products are not collected together with household waste. The Chamber of Agriculture of Reunion Island organised a can collection campaign that will take place on 21, 22, and 23 June. This collection enables to reclassify these cans as industrial waste. They will be shipped to Asia where they will be recycled in factories manufacturing electric sheath or waste water pipes. New Habitat et Environnement Dom certification

With 200,000 more persons to accomodate within the next 20 – 30 years, housing is the most significant challenge Reunion Island must address. The construction projects of collective housing, conjoined individual houses and students flats must integrate the new « habitat environnement Dom » certification : energy consumption and water management, choice of materials used, acoustic comfort criteria, envrionmental impacts, etc. are included in the new certification standard.

The latest cutting edge concrete centre for Lafarge

The Lafarge company has opened a new generation concrete centre at Saint-André combining performance, respect of the environment and security of the staff. Covering a surface of 7,000 m2, this centre produces 500 m3 of ready-to-use concrete per day. The investment equivalent to €2.5 million has taken into account limitation of acoustic nuisances, dust reduction and innovations regarding water management and recycling - the objective being to reduce water consumption to 50% in order to meet the RT DOM regulations. Used waters are collected into 4 decantation basins and are reused according to their quality.
